The European Commission has launched a new “Skills Agenda for Europe” and with it the actions to ensure that the right training and the right support for skills development are available to EU citizens and other people living, working and studying in Member States, in which the Commission has invited stakeholders work together to:
• improve the quality and relevance of skills formation
• make skills more visible and comparable
• improve skills intelligence and information for better career choices
The actions announced on 10 June 2016, to be taken forward over the next two years are the following:
1) A Skills Guarantee – renamed ‘Upskilling Pathways: New Opportunities for Adults’
2) A review of the European Qualifications Framework and the related annexes
3) The Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition
4) The Blueprint for Sectoral Cooperation on Skills
5) A revision of the Europass Framework
6) A Skills Profile Tool Kit for Third Country Nationals (to support early identification and profiling of skills and qualifications of asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants).
7) Making Vocational Education and Training (VET) a first choice
8) A review of the recommendation on key competences for life-long learning.
